The distinctive marquise shape of these earrings is believed to have originated in 18th century France under the rule of King Louis XIV, when he supposedly commissioned a new shape to mimic his mistress's sultry smile. The resulting narrow oval with tapered, pointed ends was named for that mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour.

These sterling silver earrings are filled using a technique called crushed-stone inlay. The crushed gemstone is packed tightly with a chemical bonding agent, ground, and polished to a smooth surface. Our marquis earrings are filled, top to bottom, with pink amazonite, amazonite, and lapis lazuli.

The oldest commercial mines in the world produce lapis lazuli. In the ancient world, it was used for everything from the jewelry worn by kings to special seals and sacred relics. Michelangelo used lapis lazuli to paint the Sistine Chapel. Today, it's seen as a gemstone that conveys wisdom, love and healing. Some believe it promotes psychic ability.

Amazonite is another ancient gemstone. It's been found in archeological digs in Egypt and Mesopotamia. It's known as the stone of truth, the stone of courage, and the stone of friendship.

The stone in this necklace has been treated with a clear resin as part of the inlay process.  This colourless resin serves to increase the durability of the stone.

Our marquise earrings hang on sterling silver lever-backs. The marquise itself is 3/4  inch (20mm) in length and 3/8 inch  (10mm) wide. From top to bottom, including the findings, each earring measures 1 3/8 inches (34mm) in length.

Orders that qualify for Free Shipping will be shipped via the regular or expedited package option from Canada Post.  Free Shipping will NOT include express, next day or courier shipping.

Shipment processing time

All orders are processed within 2 to 3 business days, unless otherwise stated.

We do not process or ship orders on weekends or holidays.

If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed by a few days. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there will be a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone.

If there is high demand some pieces may be made to order.  We will notify you if this is the case.  Shipments of made to order pieces will be delayed by two weeks. 

Please note that there may be shipping delays outside of Calithien Jewellery’s control due to COVID-19.

Calithien Jewellery is not responsible for packages after they are shipped. Lost or damaged packages are the responsibility of the customer. Please check that the address you have entered is correct.

Calithien Jewellery does not ship to P.O. Boxes.  A physical mailing address must be provided.

 

Shipment confirmation and order tracking

Once your order has shipped, we will provide you with a tracking number by email.  It is the customer’s responsibility to contact the post office about any loss, delay or damage.

 

Customs, duties, and taxes

Calithien Jewellery is not responsible for any customs and taxes applied to your order. All fees imposed during or after shipping are the responsibility of the customer (tariffs, taxes, etc.).

Damages

Calithien Jewellery carefully packages each order before it is shipped. We are not liable for any products damaged or lost during shipping. If you received your order damaged, please contact the shipment carrier or our support team directly to file a claim. Please send a picture of any damaged items in the packaging with your replacement request. Please save all packaging material and damaged goods before filing a claim.

Shipping exchanges and returns is the responsibility of the customer, along with the shipping charges, unless an error was made by Calithien Jewelelry.

If a return or exchange is required due to an error on our part, we will accept responsibility for the shipping.

Currently, Calithien Jewellery only ships to Canada, the United States.  However, if you are outside our current shipping zone, give us a call or send an email and we’ll see what we can do.
