The Lindy was a dance that lived in the moment, flowed with its music and was unabashedly joyful. It was a dance where the two partners maintained a smooth, gentle connection to one another.

Like the Lindy, the two blue goldstone beads maintain a gentle, flowing connection between the main labradorite stone and the sterling silver chain. The sterling silver frame protects the stone, and the lack of a metal backing means that the necklace is beautiful no matter which way it’s facing.

First discovered in Labrador, the best description of the beauty contained within Labradorite is from the Inuit people, who describe it as pieces of the Northern Lights trapped in stone.

It is also believed by some to be a stone of magic and transformation.

Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family, with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5. Which means that it is hard enough to be durable in most jewellery, though care should be taken when storing it, to prevent accidental scratches.

The colours labradorite displays, known as labradorescence, result from light refracting off of layers of materials within the stone, it is reflected back to our eyes in a dazzling, and rare display of colour. In this way, the stone transforms from unremarkable to mesmerizing. True labradorite flashes with colour that is not visible from all directions.

Also, goldstone is not a stone at all. It is, in fact, sparkly, opaque, man-made glass that has been used in jewellery for hundreds of years.

The stone in this necklace has been treated with a clear resin as part of the inlay process.  This colourless resin serves to increase the durability of the stone.

Mounted on a 20 inch rolo chain. Chain and bail are sterling silver.
